Design is to share, true words!

Born in Athens, Greece in 1980, Costas Voyatzis studied interior design by accident. Designer Andrew Thornton-Hick from Chaplins Modern Furniture says: "A great collection of work, well curated. Rooms full of beautiful minds lie behind these creations and remind us that anything is again possible…"

Darlene Cole

Simply glamorous again showing at her blogg her good eye for arts and everything else!

Darlene Cole received her B.A. in Fine Art from Queen's University, Kingston and her Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo. Darlene Cole is a rapidly rising young Canadian artist with an impressive exhibition history (Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa; Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Kingston; and the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, Kitchener) and is represented in collections across Canada, the U.S.A. and the United Kingdom. From small oil on panel works to large-scale canvases, Cole captures loosely rendered moments in time. Her gestural brushstroke and curiously cropped imagery create both energy and tension. She is interested in what she perceives to be the disappearance of childhood. Although she sets up a narrative through her contemporary figurative painting, Cole does not supply any solutions and it is this sense of mystery or secrecy that makes her painting intriguing.

Joshua Prince-Ramus: Designing the Seattle Central Library TED | Talks |

Joshua Prince-Ramus is best known as architect of the Seattle Central Library, already being hailed as a masterpiece of contemporary culture. Prince-Ramus was US Partner of Rem Koolhaas’ Office of Metropolitan Architecture before founding his own firm, REX, in 2006.
Why you should listen to him:

With one of the decade's most celebrated buildings under his belt, Joshua Prince-Ramus would seem well-positioned to become the world's next "starchitect." Except that he doesn't want the job. With his quiet intensity and intellectual bearing, Prince-Ramus is the antithesis of the egomaniacal master architect. He flatly rejects not just the title, but the entire notion of a "starchitect" designing with a genius stroke of the pen.

Prince-Ramus is best known for his work — with Rem Koolhaas’ radical Dutch architecture firm OMA — on the Seattle Central Library. The striking, diamond-windowed structure reimagines, to spectacular effect, the library’s role in a modern urban context. "Seattle's new Central Library is a blazing chandelier to swing your dreams upon," Herbert Muschamp wrote in The New York Times. "In more than 30 years of writing about architecture, this is the most exciting new building it has been my honor to review."

Having founded the US practice of OMA in 2000, Prince-Ramus split from Rem Koolhaas in May 2006 to found a new firm, REX, with colleague Erez Ella. He continues to take what he describes as a hyper-rational approach to architecture, pushing logic and rational ideas to their limits to create buildings that are unexpected, but wholly appropriate to their environment and intended use. REX's current projects include Museum Plaza in Louisville, the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in Dallas; the Vestbanen redevelopment in Oslo, Norway; and the new headquarters for design house Vakko, in Istanbul. REX is also one of five finalists for the Governors Island redevelopment in New York.

"Joshua Prince-Ramus isn't just creating buildings. In a field obsessed with celebrity, he’s putting the work -- and his workers -- first."

Entertaining Décor

Simple color tips to help you create a comfortable dining area

Whether this room is formal or informal, a separate room or part of the kitchen or living areas, the dining room should always be planned around a table and chairs. Your dining room should be inviting and comfortable—a place where people wish to linger, even after the last plate is cleared away.

What's your kind of dining room?

Dining rooms can range from stately and formal to very relaxed and casual in their décor.
Most often, formal dining areas are in a separate room, while informal dining areas are more commonly out in the open—frequently attached to the living room, family room, or kitchen.
Before decorating the dining area, you should first determine the level of formality you'd like to achieve. This decision will have an enormous impact on the colors you'll choose, and the overall look of the décor.
Be honest with yourself! Most people who have very formal dining rooms use them only occasionally. If you want to use this room on a daily basis, consider decorating it more informally than you would if it were used only on special occasions.

Tip:
When not being used for dining, a formal dining space can also double as an elegant library or study. Preparing this room for dual functions is an excellent way to expand your living area.

Formal dining areas

A formal dining room is an excellent place for entertaining. Elegant and refined, these rooms can make even the most casual get-togethers seem impressive.
Warm colors such as reds, oranges, and yellows, work especially well in more formal spaces. Psychologically, these colors help to stimulate the appetite, making them an excellent choice for rooms where the primary purpose is food and entertaining.

For the best dining experience, use warm hues that are muted or shaded such as golden or creamy yellows, spiced oranges and terracottas, wines, burgundies, and dusty roses. These colors help stimulate appetite, while encouraging diners to linger at the table for pleasant conversation.

Tip: Next time you visit a favorite restaurant, take note of the colors and décor being used—often, these spaces are professionally designed to maximize the dining experience.

Tip: Be careful when using brighter versions of these warm hues—especially vibrant yellows and oranges—as these colors tend to make people eat faster. (That's why these colors are typically used in fast-food restaurants!) Ideally, you should use bright, warm colors only as accents in dining rooms, with the more muted colors on the walls.

Toss the Tiara

THIS IS FOR MY SISTERS MARCELLE & ANNE MARIE PRINCESSES IN ALL WAYS...
Headpieces are going to be seen everywhere according to these magnificent layouts from September's Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. And what better way to infuse a little mystery into your evening? Feathers, flowers and pearls are just the start. Marcelle imagine the possibilities! So ditch the tiara and start to imagine yourself in something stunning and unexpected!

"You can do all kinds of wonderful things with hats. They can be dramatic, romantic, whimsical, or traditional -- and not in a stuffy way."
Some of the world's most fashionable women have chosen hats over tradition. The Duchess of Windsor wore a blue straw halo-style hat trimmed with pink and blue coq feathers, Rita Hayworth chose an enormous cartwheel, and Grace Kelly wore a Juliet cap that matched the lace of her gown Headpieces above from Leah C. Couture Millinery, Edie Hats and Tara O'Callaghan Milliner.
Mix it up your look with a white feather cap a la Kate Hudson or sparkling fedora a la Sienna Miller. Stephen Jones and Leah C. hats and headpieces are shown.
"Pieces like these are created for women like my sisters with an established, well-honed sense of style who uses every occasion to express it!"

Courtney Cochran

San Francisco's Most Wanted Wine Guru

Courtney's unique style sense is profiled in the story, as is her passion for wine. She compares putting a wardrobe together to pairing food and wine, a subjective process that facilitates creativity and self-expression:
"Wine tasting is often subjective, which is also why I like fashion: there's so much open to interpretation. You can change wine by pairing it with different foods. The equivalent in fashion would be wearing an avant-garde piece by Comme des Garcons or a whimsical piece from Marni with something really classic." Vogue.
